Crime and Punishment

I was surprised to find out the crime and punishment during the Victorian Era in the beginning they were treated very well. The prisoners had their own wash area and they were in single cells which was very different than what we have now with overcrowding of prisons. I also discovered that the separation chambers they had back then are a lot like the ones we have today. Only I don’t think they cover the prisoner faces up now they just put them in a separate lock down unit under strict supervision in a very protected prison. They don’t mix those kinds of criminals in general population. I’m glad that the punishments for petty crimes have changed arresting someone for just playing their music was silly and petty. The criminal elements in Great Expectations were you were hanged unless you die first. I’m glad they have some form of dignity if they have to go through execution now.
