Goblin Market

This story almost sounds like Adam and Eve taking fruit from the Garden of Eden. It also kind of sounds like what will happen at the end of time when you have to choose to take the mark of the beast. To be able to enjoy the wonderful things in life. Then once you take it you are sentenced to a life of damnation. It also symbolizes in modern life if you accept a gift and don’t give the person what they want, they may beat you up like the Goblins did Laura. I think it had deeper meanings for the Victorians because they may have believed that such make believe characters may have existed. If a person took sick they may have believed it really was some kind of curse put on them.
