Prostitution w.s a way of life for many young girls during this era. That may have been a quick way to, in your mind come up. But in reality that was a very dangerous way to try to live. They were exposed to all kinds of men unprotected. They never knew if they would make it alive or contract an STD. It was incurable back then and some diseases even now. Once they were semi treated they were sent back to the streets to infect a new group of men. That is when Jack the Ripper came into the picture. He was punishing these women by killing them and mutilating there sexual organs to stop them. There were other weird men after him like Ted Bundy who killed them and slept with the corpse. The Zodiac killer who encrypted signs and so many more.
