This image captivated me the most because it demonstrated how children were used in any kind of way to make money. When I read that some children were maimed or even blinded just to get a cash flow coming in, that let me know the need for money was dangerously serious. I could not imagine as an adult now having to use my children to make the household some money. These kids were doing crazy jobs like selling dog turds, recycling old nasty cigarettes, holding horse heads. The sad thing was this was really a way of life for that era. Obviously there were no laws against it so whatever the need was they could pay or not pay an innocent child to do it.
